SALIMA MITHAVAYANI
Born and raised in Kuwait, Salima moved to the United States with her Parents and Siblings to pursue her studies at the age of 17. Salima has a Master’s Degree in MIS and currently operates her own Project Management Company.
At the age of 4, her singing talent was discovered both at School and in Jamat Khana. As a Soprano, Salima always was Lead singer in performances and won many contests. Salima also received praise for Tilawat of the Quran and recited Dua at the tender age of 3. Salima won several awards at school for Poetry recitation. Salima recited Ginan in the presence of Hazar Imam during Silver Jubilee in Dubai, UAE when she was only 12 years old.
At the age of 15, Salima received an invitation to go to India to become a Playback singer by a famous director. Salima’s father, Ali Mohammad Mithavayani, refused the offer because the entire family was relocating to the US. However, thanks to the Ismaili Community, Salima’s voice was discovered and from the age of 17, Salima has been performing nationally and internationally.
Salima has many recorded albums, which include Geet, Bollywood and other Genres. Salima has received the title of ‘Lata of US’ at the age of 18. Her music can be found on YouTube, Soundcloud, Facebook and her own website: www.salimam.com
Salima has been performing with the Miami Orchestra since 1987 and continues to be a very vital part of this team.
